997tt vs new skyline
Discussion
Calm down! I drive a 996. Ok, so "twice the looks" may be going a little far. Whilst not a beauty queen, it looks better than a 997tt IMO.
I read that the new skyline will come in at £50k (could be wrong).
An awesome machine the 997tt maybe, it's somewhat of a butplug and not nearly bold enough in styling to justify it's 100k 'supercar' price tag.
Ps. Silver993tt, my dad is better than your dad!

Seen new skyline near the ring at weekend... they had a 9967tt also.. they were testing new car against the turbo......!!! keep trying nissan....!!!!!
I wouldn't be surprised if that's the benchmark it's aiming for. I think the R32, R33 and R34 GTR Skylines all compared (perfomance wise) favourably against the equivalent 911 of the year.
And I bet that's the benchmark EVO et al compare it to when they review it when it's launched.

But, at half the price and twice the looks.....
really? At least the 997tt doesn't look like the offspring of a Nissan Sunny and a Datsun Cherry!

Fair comment but at least the Skyline doesn't look like a VeeDub Beetle!

The next Skyline is rumoured to be 450bhp AWD so why would you think it has no chance against a 997tt?
They've certainly spent enough time developing it and with a 997tt constantly in tow they must surely be aiming at that end of the market.
The Skyline may be an ugly duckling but has always been at the forefront of automotive technology and it would be a mistake to dismiss a 450bhp Japanese supercar IMHO
They Skylines biggest enemy, especially with the R34 GTR was weight, but then it was competing against the EVO and Impreza due to Japanese law prohibiting any vehicle to have more than 276bhp/ps whichever you prefer, but it still outclassed them both even with the extra weight.
Now if they produce a Skyline with similar power and weight to a 997tt I think it will be a very good car indeed, and I'd be hard pushed to make a decision until I've seen the final product.

And the Beatles were one of the most successful bands of all time. That doesn't mean they were any good.

There were limited to 276bhp on paper lol.
Yeah I know, but you can only get away with so much, I don't think there were many cars over 300/320bhp tops. My EVO6 RS was 300 dyno'd, my R34 GTR was probably the same. But in standard spec didn't have the pulling power of my 911 turbo. But saying that I would defy anyone in a carrera or 911 turbo to outpace a EVO6 RS on a twisty road (flame suite on) a GT3 and GT3 RS yes, a 993/964 RS possibly never driven them.
But now Nissan have got scope to develope a 911 turbo beating car and if the pics and video circulating are to be believed that is exactly what they are trying to do. Only time will tell. Assumption is the mother of all F**k ups.

50k is a certain market and that market buys a lot of badge, who wants to pull up in their new 50k+ car and look across at an even newer car of the same make driven by someone with a blus rinse, Classy, it ain't!
I disagree. I buy purely on how good it is.
One of the draw backs of Porsche ownership is their image. Didn't stop me buying one though, as a selfindulgent luxary for me, so sod everyone else.
The next super-Nissan is a purpose built sports car called the GTR. Previous cars have been based on saloon car underpinnings (Skyline) and then modded. This time it's a bespoke sports car so no reason to doubt it will be v.quick and handle well.
The 350Z is a cracking car for the money and the GTR will be up on everything from that so should be a super-cracker !
And yes, it'll be cheaper than a 911 because of the badge.....pays your money and takes your choice......
I work for Nissan and own a 911 !! Can't wait for the staff test day for the GTR.....
