My local opc had an open day on sunday so i went over and got a blast in a new 997 while they give my car a free 111 point inspection also had free bate and pop not bad i thought, then they give me my car back all clean and shiny in and out very nice and to top it off they tell me the car's perfect and a very nice example and it only need's a set of front pad's as i've cooked them (ops) so i say fair enough how much will that set me back and they say "are they are only £468 fitted" yikes and i burst into laughter biglaugh and say good bye. £468 for front pad's are they for real think i'll be fitting them my self because there taking the carry on one thinks

Go into a place like that and what do you expect? I'm really surprised Porsche don't sort them out. Then again, as a wise man once said to me 'the UK is a very good market for us'...

Seemed well OTT, bearing in mind everything's supposed to be cheaper up north !
However looked at prices on OPC Colchester and sure enough £468 is the going rate for pads on a C4S or a Turbo !!

I tryed this with my last 996 bedded them in for 100 mile then took it by the short and curlys round my fave bit of road driving and had the peddal going to the floor and smoke from all 4 wheels like you would not belive within a mile so replaced them with the real deal from opc and perfect again even survived the ring so anyone out there that drives like a tw@t (like me) after market pad's just cant do it (unless there performance one's of course)
I will be fitting them myself because i'm a dab hand with a hamma smash (yer right) but it's still going to be a few pennies for the porsche pads, never mind boy's and there toy's and all that

That price is for Textar (Porsche OEM pads in different packaging). IIRC GT3 and TT pads are slightly more expensive.

I've used Textar before on Porsche and BMW - despite trying I haven't managed to upset them yet and they don't squeak either. Got mine from EuroCP.

Textar is Pagid's OEM brand.

So they're not Porsche OEM? I always thought they were. Who are the OEM for Porsche then?

Don't get confused on this issue, Textar pads are the same as the one's that come in a Porsche box if you were to buy your pads from the Porsche dealership. IIRC they even have the same porsche number stamped on their backs.
Textar for road use are absolutley fine. You might want to invest in some Pagids if you plan to go on track.

Sorry, a bit off topic - but let me get this right. You take the car to the dealer, test drive a 997 for a while while they check your car over? Sounds like a deal to me - just so that I can take the car down to the local indie and get him to do the work (cuts down the time they have to spend doing a 111 point check). Cunning.
