...is on its way out? My '99 996 C4 has the original tip tranny and 102k miles - it seems to be 'slipping' at 2k revs. This may be my imagination, but its booked into the dealer to have it looked at.

What symptoms have others had when their tiptronic transmissions failed and needed to be repaired or replaced? My car is still under the Porsche extended warranty, so I'm not worried, just curious about the signs to look out for (in fact, I'd rather get a new tranny now if I can! Been trying to blow up the engine for ages - still soid as a rock (I must have got a good one!)

Thanks

Jason

I had one go wrong a few years back it would slip so badly it would shudder to a halt then you could switch it off and back on again and it would be fine for about 5 miles!!,porsche recovered it told me it needed a new box (no parts are available to repair) 14k for the job and my warranty didn't cover it 32k miles only fpsh, believe warranty improved now. as you can imagine tiptronic is a sware word in my house

...it's not juddering/stalling at all - just seems to be slipping a bit (not the torque converter doing it's stuff though - I've had the car for 4.5 years, so know what the transmission normally feels like)
