Hi,

I know the standard boost on a 420bhp car peaks at around .7 and occassionlly .8, last night I was regularly seeing .9 under hard acceleration, is this quite normal?

Cheers

I dont think so,mine in standard form only boosted to 0.6 bar...0.9 sounds high and i would suggest it may have been remapped..imo of course.

I had the same thing, the car also felt faster, few hundred miles later the PSM/ABS failure light started coming on, it all turned out to be due to a faulty MAF sensor. Sadly once the car was repaired the boost pressure didn't stay at 0.9 bar (I had as high as 1 bar!).

Some times it will peak to 0.9 bar on a 996tt

it may also have a sticking waste gate valve very common problem in 996tt.

Yip! agreed with MIke, can occasionally have a sticky wastegate, especially with our weather conditions, you could find that someone has maybe adjusted them slightly as you could push safely another 0.1bar out of these. It could also be a spike which is common. The best way to get accurate boost level is keep it in 3rd or 4th and floor it, you always get a more accurate reading.
