Something's making a funny noise

My 996 Carrera 2 sometimes makes a loud knocking noise under hard acceleration in 1st e.g. when pulling out of a side turning. It seems to happen when there is an uneven surface which causes the tyre to lose grip momemtarily. I was thinking it could be anything from a worn shock (although it doesn't show any other signs, a problem with the linkage or even something loose on the exhaust.
It occasionally does this when going over those nasty black and yellow plastic speed humps. Anyone got any ideas?

Sometimes the trailing arms can knock like you describe but also knock when just cruising..

Get it checked out to be on the safe side.
