hi guys,

been playing with the porsche and i think i've already broken it!!!

when i got the 996tt on wednesday the dealer put half a tank in. i ran it quite low down to about 35m range with the warning light on.

put in 20 odd litres of fuel yesterday but the guage and the computer are still reading the old levels. i looked in the manual and it says if the fuel is very low and you only put a small amount of fuel in then the computer cannot read it and adjust but i would have thought that 20 litres would have been enough so get some kind of reading. it now saying that i have no range at all.

any ideas? i dont want to phone up opc and sound like a prat. i know it holds 64ish litres.

even though i have fuel will the computer do anything to the car which might damage it? i was thinking of just filling it up to max and then see what happens?

can anyone help?

Do a search on this Rick ... I think I recall someone having a similar problem recently where they ran out of fuel due to a haywire computer.

Fill her up and it'll be fine.... They do that by (annoying) design. A "splash and dash" doesn't show up on the fuel guage rolleyes

Yup.

Known issue - just don't run it below a quarter...!

thanks guys, i too remembered the other post but the search feature on here seems a bit weird at the moment hence my rather quick post.

on all 4 wheel drive 996, the fuel guage sensor is half way up the tank, so unless you fill the petrol above half way, the fuel will not register on the OBC
