As some of you know I recently bought a GT2....any chance you guys could help me with some simple questions that I don't know the answers to ....... what tyres should I look to get next as the rears don't have loads of life in them....I am running on 19" techart wheels which have Yokohama tyres on. I'd pick tyres that are good for weekend runs and trackdays but I do cover quite a few motorway miles, maybe not enough to worry about though.

Also....ceramics....when they give up what should I change to? Or are there better brake options out there already? Alcans/Brembos etc? Speaking to guys at vmax the other day they said they put their ceramics in a box and upgraded!? Seems like ceramics feel good on the road but at vmax.....they felt rubbish, I assume this was due to the fact that there is very little chance for them to warm up first.

Any comments would be appreciated

Cheers

SFD

Hi SFD! Did you get my e-mail the other day? No doubt in my mind that you need to go to 360mm Alcon floaters on the front and perhaps GT3 steels on the rear. Put the ceramics away 'till sale say! Mind you even this combo was groaning at 198mph braking!

Tyres - not sure about fitment to your wheels but current weapon of choice is Pirelli Corsa Motorsport until Toyo get a 315 rear next year.

Mail me if you need contacts etc.

Hey Dave thanks for that! I was kind of hoping you'd chip in! I couldn't remember what you'd said! Are these options better than the ceramics? I never got your email by the way???

Well in my humble opinion yes! More to the point, if you put any work (more track or Vmax) there is every chance you will destroy the ceramics and have to look for a replacement anyway. You will not want to pay OPC money for the ceramic rotors! A bit of early pain and you save the ceramics for any purist who buys your car in the future.

Hi Dave as a matter of interest, considering the number of runs you made at V-max, what was the wear rate on your brake pads?

Mark.

The fronts are OK (Pagid 29's - hard as nails) as they are quite new but the rears are on the last knockings as indeed are the rear rotors after 2 Vmax's and 7 trackdays.
