I recently bought a 993 (although it turned out to be a Targa) but I looked long and hard at your prospective purchase. All that put me off was the distance it was from me to go and look at it. (And to a lesser extent, that it's a C4 rather than the C2 I preferred).
Looks like a really nice car from the pics. Good luck with the PPI - let's hope Peter gives it a clean bill of health!

Hi.
I've just bought a 993 - I'm entering into this with trepidation like your good self!
I've owned a 1968 Porsche 912 (4 cylinder but sooo sensitive handling - superb)
1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 MINT concourse car, only 30000 miles,
and now 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera.
The car looks mint - I'm a car dealer, and the only thing that I look at is the market.
As a 993 it's the one the enthusuasts want, air cooled.
Good luck - hope you enjoy it!
AD.
I was the owner of this car prior to the current owner.
My simple comments are the folloowing:
I had the car inspected by JZ after I bought it, just for ease of mind, and the general comment was that I needn't have bothered withe the inspection.
I got a few things done, DME, CheckStraps, Battery Leads, Spoiler curtain, as you can see nothing even slightly worthy of concern.
In my ownership, nothing, and I mean nothing went wrong.
I loved the car, and did not track it, and from my knowledge it was not tracked by the owner before me.
The car did not have the rattle, and in all honesty, if I had not just moved house, I would buy the car back.
If you want to have a chat about the car, e-m me.
Vincent

I bought a 996 C2 following an inspection by Peter. His report and approach is professional and comprehensive and gave me the peace of mind I was looking for before parting with my hard-earned cash - I recommend his services.
He did however miss mildly squeaky wishbones front and rear which I have subsequently had replaced, and which I had noticed when I took for the original test drive, but forgot to mention to him. My recommendation is therefore whichever specialist you use, make sure you research the common problems with the model car you are looking at and ask the specialist to comment on those specifically. If I had done this Peter would no doubt have picked the problem up. This forum is indispensible as a library of common faults - so allocate a bit of time to do some homework and go in with your eyes open. You'll then get the best from any inspection.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your comments guys...am really hoping this car gets through the inspection so i can be a porsche owner!!!!!
If this is the Orsett Village 10 minutes away from me the car should be 100%. If the owner can afford to live there he can afford to look after his toy perfectly well
I'm always looking at houses that come up for sale there but they start with a minimum of an "8" at the front and go up
