Hi all,

Further to my previous thread my warranty company want me to prove that the VarioCam i am asking them to replace under warranty is faulty. To this end they want me to hire an independent engineer to verify this and produce a report of his/her findings. Anybody experience ideas on this. How would you go about testing this thing out of the car or even being to prove its faulty, Can you open it up at all?

Oh its a 99 996 C2 btw!!

Sorry pheedback I havn't bothered to test failed units against good ones yet (and have thrown the poor ones away) - but if you want to post it to me I will be happy to do so and see if I can identify proof - for which I will make no charge.

Hopefully all the warranty ppl want is a yes im an expert not connected to the garage or me and imo its broke. Car certainly works alot better now its fixed which you think would be proof enough!

I was told that Oil seeps out of them when they are on their way out, IIRC Porsche recommend them to be replaced every 50K miles.

had mine done at 52k miles, but again, not under warranty, I didnt even ask just sent it to the local specialist without looking into if it was covered.
