Lets start with the pics:

and

I don't know where the windscreen was nor could I figure out how he fitted one in. The car also looked lower. Very nice inside. The whole thing was absolutely mint.

It's just a speedster witht the screen taken off, they were like that from the factory, you just never see anyone take them off.

Looks like a WTL Speedster with modded Fuchs wheels and aftermarket rollover bars.

Pikey, do You know if they got towed away later on ( because both of them are parking on non-parking areas ... ) ?

Is that a 964 T Cab in the back or turbo bodied cab? Looks stunning...

Looks like Adenau, should know as stayed in the hotel right there. I don't recommend it either - shabby room with 70's bathroom.

News to me that the Speedster's windscreen was removeable. Do remember customers having to sign a disclaimer, that Porsche would not guarantee it wouldn't leak in rain occasionally.

You can tell it's a Speedster because it says Speedster on the engine cover.

I think it may be one of the rare Speedster 'Clubsports', which came with a removed windscreen, roll-hoops and a sort of hardtop cover that fitted from the base of the windscreen to the bootlid at the back, with cutouts for the driver. I'll post a pic as soon as I can find one.

is a rear view mirror (other than the side ones) not needed for a tüv?

No, they aren't. Think vans without rear windows.
An integral helmet or appropriate eye covers are required when driving without windscreen; it's the same when driving the Land Rover with the windscreen folded down.
