What tyres for a 997?
Discussion
Have to change tyres on my 997C2S. Bought the car at 9.5k with a decent amount of tread but have managed to wear out the rears in another 2.5k miles (and loved every minute of it...!!). Think practicing drifting at Vmax killed them....
I use the car as a daily commuter so need a good allrounder - something good in the wet, hard wearing, not mega expensive but also to cope with the occasional trackday/Vmax. Crap driver so won't be able to tell major difference between tyres.
Car came with Michelin Pilot Sport N1 tyres and I'm thinking of sticking the same ones on again.
Also, based in West London so any decent places to get them fitted? Thinking of just my local Kwik Fit round the corner who have my tyres in stock and can do in 30mins while I wait. Do I need to think of anything else - getting the car alignment checked, etc?
Thoughts?

just been on to kwik fit to try and do tracking for my 987 boxster s. i've called three different branches, (all in west london). two are positive that they cannot do tracking on new style porsches. the third one said the'd give it a try!!!
porsche want £325 to do tracking, and finished the conversation by saying that the minute you go over a speed hump, the tracking could go again!!
great!!

A mate has on his new RS4 some Michelins (?) which are intermediates, i.e. soft on the outside of the tyre for spirited cornering on track and hard on the inside for longevity. He uses them regularly on the Ring and is very happy with them also for day to day use. Sounds like a good compromise but not sure whether they are available for the 997S as well
