Should be covered. But don't expect them to welcome you into the workshop - as you already know!

Yes there are no parts available to repair 996/boxster S gearboxes..only 996 turbo/gt2/gt3 gearboxes.

mike

all though i can source individual parts and repair these boxes..

100% success ratio.

See this : www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=324079&f=48&h=0

Having similar issues. But I'm told you can get parts to fix the 'box from Porsche.

Thats outrageous! So they took the gearbox apart then said "yeah, it's F**ked and we're not going to put it back together now"?

(probably a gross mis-quote, but still...)

How's it being resolved?

I think you are right,
They had the box in bits for about 3 weeks before coming back to me and stating that PCGB would not replace the gearbox as it was down to wear and tear or user abuse ie track days etc,

And they wouldnt put it backk together as they couldnt warranty the work

ing monkey s!

Had you tracked it?

Sorry to hear about all that mate. That well and truly sucks!

I can't believe the sheer number of people who've had so many problems with Porsche products and the utter contempt they seem to have for their customers.

I thought Porsche was suppoed to stand for quality and reliability. I'm now convinced that this isn't the case. I'm now seriously considering getting rid of my Boxster that I've only had for 5 months. I've lost all faith in Porsche and their "engineering" skills.

I reckon I'd be better off going back to a Lotus. At least they have proper japanese engines and transmissions that put Porsche's pathetically fragile attempts to shame.
