964 - Squealing fan
Discussion
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? The fan in my beloved 911 has started to squeal in a manner that makes me want to scream. When the internal blower is set to either 0 or 1, it starts to emit a high pitch whistling noise from somewhere behind the dash - it's loud and on ALL THE TIME. If I speed it up to 3 or 4 the noise ceases.
I'm kind of assuming that there's a bearing in the fan mechansim somewhere that's on the way out, but was just curious if anyone else has experienced this highly irritating phenomenon (and particulary, knows a way to fix it without dismantling the dash).
Cheers

I have just looked at both front fans last weeekend and i have cured the squeak but i do imagine it to return as i have not replaced any bearings, just lubricated them.
The remove the fans, check and lubricate them and put it all back together it took me about 4 hours in total.
If i had to do it again it would take half the time.
From now on i will exercise these fans often as mine seized up due to lack of use, got a cab so not a lot of need in summer.
