I have been offered the opportunity of a 1969 911 2.0 in good condition ( yet to see ) for around the 8K mark. Is this a bargain or typical price ?

AFAIK this is a bargain, when the car is in an original condition and driveable without needing work (no major faults that is).

current prices in Germany is €25k for a condition 2; and €7k for a condition 4 (where condition 1 is concourse and 5 a restoration project)

The 2.0s aren't that popular tho'.

If you love classic 911s and it's had the restoration done for you, then yeah, bargain.

Otherwise, it could be an expensive way to clog up your garage or someone else's. And I wouldn't buy it for an investment.

Could be all manner of nasties lurking under that shiny paintwork. Price is cheap though - is it on injection or carbs?...is it a dealer selling it? If so he isn't going to let the car go cheap, is it rhd? is it brown? If it needs any kind of bodywork then forget it...rot round any windows, any bubbling visible in the door slam panel/shut and it's going to need major work to the tub, let alone any of the exterior panels. Don't forget that no part of that car was galvanised from new either.

If it passes all those tests, and it has all the original trim/bumpers/interior then it's a lovely classic car for not a lot of money.

Dont forget that this will be a pre galvanised car and major structural repair ARE expensive, worth investing in an "expert" to give best advice
