I also like the sound of this. Would like to know a bit more about it though.

do a search on Baz Hartech's posts - he has described the scheme (in summary) in the last week or so.

Sounds damn good - just wish he was closer to me

Baz Hartech gave a run down of the scheme yesterday in the 996 engine transmission failures thread started by Mr Phish.
Have a read of that for an idea of what it covers.
From memory it covers labour, servicing and MOT, you have to pay for materials.

I'm on the Hartech plan and have been since buying a 996 coming up for a couple of years ago. To get the car on the plan I had to have a full service, which cost about £300 from memory. A couple of bits needed fixing but once done it was then on the plan meaning that, in future, I just pay for parts.

The beauty of the plan in my mind is that it covers wear and tear items too, OK there are a couple of things not covered which may be on the OPC warranty such as the aircon system but at the end of the day I don’t have to pay OPC servicing prices!

The monthly cost (which for me on 12,000 miles per year is £75 per month) covers servicing, MOT and labour for virtually everything that goes wrong whether down to a fault or just wear and tear.

To give you and example, after collecting the car from its first service I paid £16, which was the cost of a Polyrib belt that needed replacing, the next service cost me nothing.

I’ve had a few bits repaired, the worst being when I thought I needed the engine replacing because of a total failure, fortunately for me though it turned out that one of the valve springs had broken. Hartech had the engine out, stripped down, discovered the fault, rebuilt it with shiny new bits and I just paid a couple of quid for the springs and then the new oil and a couple of other bits. It would have cost them considerably less to have just billed me for a new or recon engine and to be honest I wouldn’t have known any better but they aren’t that sort of crowd. Secretly Baz probably enjoyed taking the thing apart, discovering what was wrong and rebuilding it! I actually felt pretty guilty because I’d only been on the plan for a few months when the engine went - I can’t imagine feeling that way had I been picking the car up from the OPC.

Bearing in mind that my car has now done 92,000 miles I feel a lot happier knowing it’s on the plan and for me it makes more sense than having the Porsche warranty. It’s also good to know that you’re not going to get ripped off, at the end of the day if they recommend doing some work you can be certain it needs doing.
