Why does the RS clutch and LWF invalidate my warranty?
Discussion
Really quite annoyed.
Desperately wanted to have the sport clutch and lightweight flywheel (as per factory 996 GT3RS) fitted to my Mk2 GT3, but Porsche Middle East are insisting my warranty would be invalid, even if fitted by an OPC. Seems bizarre to me, after all the RS is not a hugely different car, and indeed I believe the vast majority (if not all?) engine and transmission components are the same.
Does anyone know if (a) Porsche GB take a similar stance, and (b)if not, whom I can approach to get a letter issued by them or by Germany to Porsche Middle East.
Once again, many thanks!

Agrre that this seems a bizarre interpretation by the OPC. Am I correct in assuming that even the CS MK2's did not come with a lightweight flywheel? If so that might explain their relutance. The MK 1 CS did come with the lighweight flywheel and as such I guess there would be little or no arguing in that case if you converted a standard MK1 because the rest of the mechanicals are identical. Porsche could always argue that the RS was built as a package - a unique car in other words. They could then argue that the standard MK2 or even CS versions did not get the lightweight version because they were not up to handling it. Seems like a bit of a weak argument to me but I understand why you would want a categoric assurance before proceeding down the lighweight road.

I think that's right, Steve. Only the Mk 1 CS had the lightweight flywheel, but as you say the argument for invalidating the warranty seems a little weak to me.
Shame they can't see a little sense over the issue. I was under the impression a lot of PH'ers have gone down the RS clutch and flywheel route - or perhaps I am confusing with Rennlist?
Any UK GT3 owners done this?
