Just installed a new ECU from Porsche but the car won't start. Installed the same new ECU into 2 other 993 turbos and they started fine. Reinstalled old ECU into my car and it starts fine.

The only difference between the cars is that mine has the PA1000 alarm/immobiliser installed. Would the key fobs now need reprogramming using the red master fob?

..or is it nothing to do with the PA1000?

help appreciated

is that simply following the PA1000 instruction pamphlet?

Pa1000 is seperat unit nothing to do with ecu...

Why have you changed ecu ?

did it run before ecu change?

installed the 450hp ecu as part of the Porsche kit. Yes runs if I put the old ECU back in. However, the new ECU runs in other cars.

erm, no. that was following the instructions on a different make of car. sorry. i just assumed that the theory would be similar, since the key probly needs to recognise the ecu.

Well, I think it's in that area because the only component that's different among 3 similar cars is the PA1000.

However, would like a bit more qualification before I mess around with reprogarmming the keys and end up with the old ECU not working either!

It's already at a dealer (independent) in Germany. As I said, they tried the new ECU in 2 other turbos and it worked instantly.

so youre old ecu reuns fine on the car....and the new one doesent start ?

but on other cars its fine...

how strange..so if immobiliser fault you would of thought that the car would not run on either ecu...

unless the ECU recognises something with the PA1000?

ok, thanks for the info. I mentioned it because it seems to be the only 'electronic' difference between the cars.

Cheers Alan. The ECU I have came with the kit, so it didn't cost me anything extra.

I'll post a pic of my car when it's back in the UK with your (very different looking) wheels

Anyone know if the UK cars (993's at least) have the Porsche Driveblock system as standard? I was told the cars in Europe have this but not sure about the UK (as usual). I know the new ECU that I have is for cars fitted with Driveblock.

I had this problem when I had mine fettled. My old ecu was knackered, so RS put the new map on a brand spanking ecu. The car would turn over but not fire up, the ecu was sent back to RS who removed the drive block, and no further probs.

Sounds like it might be the same problem. My New ECU has been confirmed to have Drive block, so are you saying this is bad news for a UK car?
