I have my porsche for nearly 1 month now.

I was very thorough in my search for the car and made sure I got the right one etc etc. There was one thing I didnt however consider. This was the way other drivers treat porsche drivers on the road.

The one thing i did nt contemplate was that it is every fiesta driving 18 year old, chavs dream to stack their car into a porsche. I had never realised that pillocks like these actually get street kudos of they prang their 300 pound car into your 30 000 pound car.

Example A, i come of the motorway, busy traffic so driving cautiously...when fiesta man appears in my rear view mirror. Normally, I just let tailgate tossers past me but as the traffic was so heavy i didnt bother. I was then like why is this guy tailgating me in traffic? Get through the traffic onto a 40 mph road. Drive at just over speed limit (not a safe road, 6 casualties in last year)when this prat continues to tailgate me. Stop at lights he pulls up next to me, winds down window..."why u driving so fing slow, cant u fing drive etc blah blah blah". I'm like you are trying to race and i'm not hence I call it normal driving! Light changes and I decide to let him go as he will prob cut into my lane and break hard or some other suitably dickish action. He pulls away as fast as he can, straight over round about and smack into side of police car! Damn what a shame! I pointed out to the police in question about his dangerous actions at which point he told the police I WAS TRYING TO RACE HIM! Police already had enough lip from him and couldnt contain themselves from laughing at the suggestion that a porsche driver couldnt keep up with a pubescant fiesta driver.

needless to say he was in handcuffs when i left!

Example B, Was in kingston town centre minding own business driving home last week. Stop at a red light, either side cars pull up, one a saxo VTR, one a 205 gti 1.6. Both drivers start revving, I'm like...here we go, which one of you C**** is gonna crash into me here trying to be flash in front of tracey in the passenger seat. Obviously I let these pratts wheel spin off from the lights so that they wont touch my car. Can see through their rear window that they are celebrating "racing" a porsche and winning. DO these idiots not realise that some cars are worth more than £100 and that most drivers actually give a shit about the condition of their cars and little things like ..er...not smashing them up racing on the street but no chav man is never happier than when smashing his shitbox bucket with wheels into someone elses pride and joy.

I know this is a rant and a very long way round to the pub of saying "Why do they think they gain respect from a) driving like a "weapons grade cock end" (please attribute my new favourite phrase to Vesuvius as i have borrowed it - again from him as you all know).
b) crashing into an expensive car
c) generally behaving like they have 1 brain cell for the extended family?

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Also why do they gain street cred from crashing their shitter into an expensive car? Is this so they can actually be close to an expensive car at some point in the their wretched lives.

Again sorry for long winded rant guys but am getting vexed with the tailgate fiesta crew!

Justice was done.

Sadly there will always be those whose testicles reside just behind their eyes and their brain just inside their arse.

Yours isn't a red one is it? Happened a lot less when I had my blue Porsche. Got a red one and it was like a "red rag to a bull" (groan).

no blue one. I think it is just the porsche thing whereby people feel that you are a wanker cos you have a porsche and therefore it is their human right to drive one nano metre from your rear bumper, whilst jumoing up and down in the car and pumping their tunes out!

Nah, in Columbia they would have shot him at the side of the road, that would have been more satisfying!

But sometimes it's just their motors that suffer.

Ive had a few instances with kids messing around when Im in my 997(worst being when you pass them on the motorway and next thing they are up your arse or trying to pass you in the inside lane and swerve back in front of you),however for some reason the problem is 10 times worse when Im driving my Golf R32.Dont know why but every chaved up Nova/Fiesta/Corsa around tries to have a go.

Yep, you get a "halo" of dangerous driving around a Porsche. I was similarly shocked when I bought my car. I've found the best thing to do is drive defensively, learn to recognize these types of drivers and give them a wide berth.

I've found you can usually pick them out from a distance. Not by the look of their vehicle, age etc. but just by their positioning on the road and the general manner of driving. I'm guessing it's the car equivalent of reading hostile body language.

Chill and enjoy yourr motor.

Glad it's not just me then. My GTI attracts far more attention from the Halfords tts (twattention?) than my 997 ever did.

If the scenario happens again when you are out on the open road you need to use the abilities of the Porsche to your advantage - can I suggest that you try this? Keep the numpty behind and "suck" him along at gradually faster speeds but keeping just within his acceleration and braking limits. Just as he thinks he has you matched, pick a very tight rh bend with suitable field or hedge, fly at it like a looney so he's desperately trying to catch up and then brake ultra-late, turn hard through the bend and then relax and enjoy the view in the mirrors as the tyre smoking baloon causes the maximum amount of hedge and car damage.

Also works on wonderfully against TVR's at track days, by the way!
