Anyone had any positive experience buying a brand new Porsche from dealers and getting a discount (how dare I ask for such a thing) or any free luggage etc thrown in?

Cheers for that - dealer just laughed at me when I asked for something thrown in for the pleasure of handing him £70k -

If dealers are having trouble shifting a certain model then they'll chuck some free stuff in to sweeten the deal. I think Porsche sold around 26,000 911's last year, so there isn't exactly a shortage of buyers, so why should they sweeten the deal any further?

I managed to get a set of mats and a bottle of champagne (no idea if it's any good) on a Boxster, but I wouldn't expect anything if you ask to talk discounts when you go in for test drives etc.

If any dealer laughs at you, then smile and buy the car from another OPC. Porsche may not need to offer discounts in order to survive, but all OPCs compete with each other and should not get arrogant and complacent. After all, it's no big deal for someone buying a 70k car to buy it from a place 50 miles down the road if their customer service is better, is it?

yes

Absolutely .. You could always ring the next closest OPC and ask em what they'd give you free-gratis , then go back to the original dealer .. You shouldn't have to put up with a sneering dealer while you're parting with your readies....
