My remote fob seems to have just stopped working - also when I open the car with the key it just opens the drivers door - so the central locking seems to have stopped working, anybody any ideas on this?

Could it simply be a blown fuse? - wishful thinking!

Also leaves me with another problem - I can't get into the boot as the bonnet seems to be locked with the central locking - is there a way to manually unlock this?

Cheers,

Richard

sounds like the battery has gone.

not sure how to open it manually sorry, sounds like you need a token scouser at this moment in time.

But the car starts etc?

If so, try putting the key in the ignition then holding the remote button on the fob down for 5 seconds or so (may just need resynchronisation) - doesn't account for the front bonnet not opening on the interior buttons though...

If the battery is flat, there is a little red post in the fuse box (drivers foot well) its towards the top... Pull it out, and hey presto a +ve point to which you can connect a jump battery or some such. Connect the -ve to the body (door latch ring for example).... And now your buttons should work... pop the bonnet and sort the battery...

There is also a cable release... but a lot more tricky to get to...

Hope this helps...

I'm assuming this is on a 996?

If you open the car using the lock then you won't be able to open the bootlid. You'll also notice that if you don't put the key in the ignition fast enough, the alarm will go off. Get a new battery for the key (it's a C2032) and you should be fine.
