Can someone ID this Porsche for me?
Discussion
What I know about Porsches can be written on the back of a very small stamp. I'm reprocessing some old photos and captioning them, but I've no idea about the model of this one.
It was taken at Bedford Autodrome last November on a trackday that consisted mainly of S2000s but had a few VX220s, the odd Caterham and Exige/Elise and a few other things, if it was anyone here driving it.
Cheers

Clear front indicators were fitted at the factory to differentiate between the C4 and C2.
Best make that a 993 C4S to be on the safe side.
The wheels look like the poverty model 996 17" jobs (perhaps a spare set kept by the owner to mount trackday tyres on ?)
Phew it's hot in here with this anorak on !!

Bit more about them, made between 1994 and last of the line was R reg cars circa 1997. They were the last 911s with aircooled engines. Also the last of the 911s following the same dashboard layout of the first 911s (big 5 round dials...).
You can get lots of different versions, though some say that this side of the RS (stripped out car), the C2 drives the "purest".
C2 - rwd - known simply as "carrera"
C4 - 4wd - carrera 4
C2S - rwd, wide body - Carrera S
C4S - 4wd, wide body, turbo running gear - Carrera 4S
RS - rwd, track focused car - Carrera RS
targa - with a glass sliding roof
then you've got the cabriolets in all but the wide body guises
Turbo - 4wd turbo
The 94/95 cars had a 272bhp engine, the later cars had a varioram 285bhp engine.
Ajit.
Wholesale changes came after that in the shape of the watercooled 996, whole new interior etc.

Thats not aventura green, it is 'Turkis' blue (probably german for turquoise) same colour as my old mans 993tt
Indeed it is. I got fooled by the lighting - Turkis normally looks much brighter than the picture suggests. Aventura is a much darker colour. There was another version of the Turkis called Libellturkis over here - much more of a sky blue/green. Don't know what they called it in the UK.
Hi.
I suspect this is a Carrera. Not Carrera 4.
The basis of my suggestion is that the side repeaters are still amber coloured.
The fronts lenses only have been changed for clear items.
It is not as "S" as the rear spoiler has a black full width inlay, and the front bumper skirt edges are missing door sills and molding into the rear wheel arch area (as prev. mentioned) are not the wider "S" model versions.
Wheels as mentioned before are spares for trackday use!

I think its a Carrera as well, because I can't see any sign of silver brake calipers, and although its not that easy to be sure, I think there'd be a hint of silver in there.
