Watching Fifth gear last night i thought the 997gt3 looked absolutely awesome and makes the 997tt look very clumsily designed and quite ugly by comparison. To me Porsche have taken a huge step forwards with the 997gt3 compared to the 996gt3 however the 997tt is only marginally better than the 996tt(especially in the looks department)My 996tt is far better than my 996gt3 was but i can say now that if i went for a new 997 the gt3 is the one i would have(especially at 25k cheaper than the 997tt).I would have thought 996 gt3 residuals could suffer now even more because the 997gt3 looks to finally be the car that people like myself expected when we bought 996gt3's.All imo of course.

looks wise the 996GT3 was never a winner for me because of the rear spoiler. To me it looked like a standard 996(good as it is) with a halfords rear spoiler attached. I am simply talking about its looks not its capabilities. I cant live with what i think is an ugly car no matter how good a drive it is. I think the new GT3 looks aggressive but not over the top where i just cant get over the horrible air intakes on the new TT. They now look like an add on from the same catalogue as the 996GT3 rear spoiler. Only my opinion though.

Agree with kayc - 997GT3 is a far better looking car than the unresolved 997TT - which let's face just looks plain WRONG - here's hoping the forthcoming 997GT2 improves things further again!

The 997 GT2 has similar air vents to the Turbo if the recent spy pics from the 'Ring are correct.

I think the Mk1 rear spoiler looks fantastic, kind of moulded by the wind....the mk2 i wasn't so keen on. loved the RS carbon on tho.

Ajit.

Very tempted because it looks and sounds awesome...after my last GT3 fiasco i will wait until some second hand ones become available...,my last adventure into GT3 territory cost me too much to buy new again..weeping

I also like the RS but I didnt realise there was a difference in the spoiler between Mk1 and Mk2.

Wise move KC with the wait and considering the Gt3 is now more of a car for everyman, they will no doubt be supplying more of them than ever before.....gotta affect residuals after about the first years allocation.

agree with you kayc apart from one thing - the 997TT is not a small stepforwards styling wise, its a backwards step IMHO - every vent is overly fussy and the wheels look cheap and tacky

GT3 would be the car for me if I did not need rear seats, now much more usable as a road car and looks far better - and it looks great in loud colours which don't suit a TT

clubsport all the 997 range look as ugly as the 996 cars,it has to be the cheapest interior ever.
Except for the gt3rs seats which look like CGT seats,so they must be good!

Will probably also go for a second hand 997 GT3 in a couple of years. Don't like the second part to the front spoiler though, looks v.messy. Actually prefer the looks of a standard 997 on 18"s. Looks less like that dog of a 993 on pimp my ride.

Isn't that weird. I was watching that rubbish on 5th Gear last night with the kids. They saw the car (not knowing it was the new GT3) and said -uurrgh, whats that ugly thing...

I don't think the lens and angle used were very complimentary to the front of the car - but my kids prefer my MK1.

I, on the other hand, would buy the new one tomorrow if I had the resources. A MK1 and 997GT3 in the garage would be a fine start to a collection!

You're not wrong BM...Now where did they get their inspiration for the 997 look from??
