Hi and welcome..

could you give a bit more info - i mean, snow tyres as in Finland need studs, or UK 'its a bit slippy for 30 days' snow tyres?

UK 'its a bit slippy for 30 days' snow tyres? You got it in one. That mixed with country living.

What are you running at the moment...

My Pirelli PZero's arent too bad on the wet leaves, but havent tried them on the real slippy stuff yet, but i imagine a delicate right foot and it'll be okay...

In my old car, I had Dunlop SP9000's (silly uni-directional sport tyres) on a RWD car and managed to drive in a blizzard with no problems...

IMHO the you want the best comprimise between summer/winter tyres, unless your running 2 sets of wheels, why spoil your fun for the sake of having to tip-toe a few mornings?

Im sure others will be along to suggest the best tyres for you shortly (i profess, not experienced in this matter), but I imagine most will be the Pirelli's, Toyo's or some-such...

Winter Tyres are what you need. Not just for snow - but lower than 8 Celsius and provide much better grip on general winter roads

Michelin Pilot Alpin. You should be able to find prices on the WEB etc...

You could stick to your own tyres and drive very carefully on particuarly bad days... but winter tyres are much better suited.

You pays your money and you takes your choice - as they say.

I've got Vredestein Wintrax on my 996 C2. They go down a size on the rear to 265/18 from 285/18. They're fabulous for traction/grip. Don't know why anybody would buy a C4.(ducking to avoid flak)

I'm guessing you need a lighter right foot. hehe

On a 6am sunday morning dash across country at errrrr triple figure speeds........ my Pirelli Assimetricos (as fitted to the car when it left the factory) were fine. Just had to accellerate and brake more gradually than normal as well as go around corners a bit slower. Outside temps were down to -7C and the car had ice features around the nose and hanging off the side mirrors when I got to my desitnation.

Having said that how often does it snow in the UK? For the few days that it does I just wouldn't drive my car whatever tyres it had as there are too many idiots sliding around all over the place with the potential to slide in my direction!
