Got the GT3 out at Silverstone today after a PARR Geo Set up.

To go with the Track set up I had the Brembo disc uprade aswell, I am also running the new Champion RS9 wheels (I think the only set in the UK as they came straight from Vegas show)

These wheels are light, (lighter than BBS, I know because I weighed them!) and the looks are growing on me, but they are a bit West Coast!

The handling is now much, much better. The sudden oversteer is no longer there, you can feel the rear weight up, but now it just digs in. Turn in is still sharp and understeer only comes when you come off the brakes to early before turn in.

The car is less stable on the brakes though, never feels like its out of control but it does move around.

There is still a little to much body roll though, but this is probably down to the weight more than anything else, afterall the GT3 is still a road car.

I might try a stiffer ARB setting to see.

The only issue I had all day was when the tyres got hot (48 in left rear!), rear traction was poor again. As it was cold I was lazy with checking them, not a good idea when you get big slides in Woodcote!

I reduced rears to 36 hot and fronts 32 and this sorted it. I was going to try 32 all round but it starting raining, I am running Toyo R888 so any advice appreciated on pressures?

In summary pleased saved £ 5k on upgrading suspension, that is half the deposit for my Viper Green 997 GT3 RS I just ordered!

Thanks for the update. Have you tried Corsa's or Pilot Sport Cups? I personally love the Corsa's. They feel like they've been engineered just for the GT3. They are a great compromise if you use the car on the road too. Mine are still very grippy despite the fact it's December!

Tell us more about your RS order...which dealer, coming when, spec etc...

PS: love it in green

Which wheels are these Champion RS9s exactly? I'd love to see a picture.

Hi Matey,

I run Toyo's on my GT3RS and think they are a great tyre. I suggest you try 35 front and 39 rear (hot pressures). You'll probably need to bleed them down 3 to 4 times to get them to stabilise at these pressures, but once done they should be fine and shouldn't go off.

If you find that they are still starting to get a bit lairy after 15 - 20 minutes on track, then they probably need replacing. Even if they look fine with even wear and plenty of groove still showing, its the number of heat cycles that they go through which kills them off.

I got Steve at Simply Tyres to replace mine at Brands on Saturday. The tyres still looked ok but the car was starting to get quite lively. They had done 3 days at Brands, 1 at Snett and 2 at the Ring, so for £600 a pop that pretty good value if you ask me !
