I'm after a set of Pirelli PZero Corsas. Silverline have quoted me £195 for 225/45 17" and £215 for 255/40 17" So I'm looking at nearly £850 for set of four before fitting.

Wondering if I can get them a bit cheaper anywhere?

9m (www.ninemeister.com) quote Corsa's at a slightly lower price. However I'm not sure if the prices on the site include VAT.

Micheldever (in surrey I think) have a reputation for offering the best deal on high performance tyres. I always check their prices before deciding where to buy.

The prices on our site do not include VAT. Delivery will be £20 + VAT per set.

maybe worth getting a quote from Micheldever or wherever and use that as a bargaining lever for a more local tyre outfit. Worked for me.
Or maybe Michedever are local to you (lucky person).
Good luck.

Cheers chaps. I'm going to get in contact with your recommendations.

I phoned Micheldever yesterday, and they don't supply these sort of tyres. I have used them three times in the past for normal road tyres like Bridgestone S02's and Eagle F1's. They are a good professional operation, with good prices, just don't turn up on a Sat morning, or you'll find yourself in a two hour queue to get your tyres fitted.

I'm currently checking out the costs of the tyres in Germany, seeing as I go across there a fair bit, and prices are supposed to be a lot cheaper there.

Have you had a look at www.buyatyre.com part of the bookatrack website, they seem to have some fair prices and will fit at home or trackday.

As a counterpoint, I thought they were unprofessional tossers (well, the fitting and tracking guys, desk service was OK).

They fcuked up the balancing of the wheels on my Lotus Carlton (and I specifically asked for a rebalance!), proved uncooperative when they did so, then they completely fcuked up the tracking when I had that done in their bays.

I wanted 1mm toe out and they kindly gave me 4mm toe in. Well done boys Got through a set of tyres ina bout 2k miles, long after I could realistically complain to them. Only when I had the tracking professionally redone did the truth emerge.

Tossers.

So just because they're cheap, and one or two have had good service from them, doesn't mean the sun shines out of their fitting bay. Treat with caution.

Yes but 911newbie was spot on, they are still the reference point on price B4 you buy!

Yeah, a good reference point for sure. The point about Saturday mornings is also spot on, unless you turn up as the gates open.

You'll also find Headley Tyres (Newbury way) or Bath Road Tyres (Slough) are normally just as cheap (google as I haven't got the numbers in front of me).

Just adding a counterpoint to the 'professional' comment... you'd think they'd take more care with the tracking and balancing on a 187mph car, but they didn't give a tinker's toss.

And I certainly wouldn't go there for tracking.

From a pal in Germany: (prices in Euros)Also, try Mark Hutchison Motorsport -ex-Silverline.

4 MICHELIN Streettires are available in a variety of dimensions and either
PILOT SX MXX3 or PILOT SPORT with various N numbers depending on car type and tire size. Price however is universal and is
for 18" tires incl. shipment in Germany/Austria Euro 750,00
for 17" tires incl. shipment in Germany/Austria Euro 650,00
Shipment to suisse is 55,- Euros other countries are not listed

4 MICHELIN Cuptires are
for 18" tires incl. shipment in Germany/Austria Euro 1.450,00
for 17" tires incl. shipment in Germany/Austria Euro 1.250,00
Shipment to suisse is 55,- Euros other countries are not listed

this is an offer just for Porsche Club Germany members (membership is 80 Euros for 2003 if you become member of PCD directly or varies depending on whihever local Club you join) and when ordering you tell them the VIN of your car so they can see what sizes would match and bigger quantities per driver (beyond a years supply) will cause some "discussions" I heard.

I'm currently buying DunlopD10J track tyres from Justin at PEC ,Wales for 205/50/16 £128, 225/45/16 £138.
These are great tyres and should outlast Michelins Cup tyres by a big margin, mine have worn and melted very quickly.
Many of the drivers at Oulton recently had these on with no problems reported.
