HI,
Any of you 944 owners out there members of the Official Porsche or TIPEC clubs ?
I'd be interested in the cars for sale on their web sites but am not interested in joining up so have no access. Any nice 944 convertible's up for sale at the moment ??

Cheers

i'm with PCGB. they do have a website but not a great classifieds section. most of the PCGB for sale stugg comes in the monthly magazine, Porsche Post, but you have to be a member to get it.
With the plethora of internet dealer websites out there, plus of course pistonheads classifieds, I'd hve though you had enough to go on?

You tight git.

Porsche club - fifty quid, a great mag every month & loads of other bits, some of which will appeal, some of which won`t but the mag alone is worth the money.

TIPEC £30 & you get a free spouse. Can`t come close to the above in terms of mag, meets etc but a friendly enough bunch with events that cost pennies to attend, (if any charge at all).

Some feel TIPEC has a bias towards the more affordable cars though in practice the bulk of the PCGB members drive very "price range" cars so their "upmarket" stigma not wholely justified.

Yep I'm tight all right !! But in truth I'm not a "club" person as I just have to many other interests in life.
I thought some of the "nicer" cars may be only for sale thru these club web sites

You can join the Forums for both PCGB & Tipec for free without becoming members of the clubs - get access to most of the material, including classifieds, & no commitment.

Buy a copy of 911 Porsche World magazine (where mine was advertised)- plenty of adverts in there. Also www.autotrader.co.uk (where mine was also advertised), or try Ebay where you get both private and trade sellers now.

If you do find the 944 you want, the other advantage of joining the PCGB is the 10% discount you can get at the OPC parts counter. After a set of brake pads and some other items I soon got my 50 quid back.

I'm not really a club person either but my car still wears its PCGB badge /sticker thing on the rear view mirror. I must admit I'm intriguied by what Henry F said about Tipec "TIPEC £30 & you get a free spouse" do you get a choice of spouse? I have been on their website didn't spot the dating section!

Member of neither, but use both of their websites. (FWIW, I think the PCGB one is much better for 944 stuff as there is more traffic on there.)

Sorry to relay this, but I attended my local TIPEC meet a few times over the summer and it was pretty dull. I'm tempted to try a PCGB one to see what that's like - if it is any better. (I used to be very involved in Club GTi - the equivalent for Golf GTi's, and that was excellent.)

Presumably if you`re married and / or don`t fancy another then you don`t get one, otherwise a wise spend of £30.
