No, they are wrong. The suspension is adjustable. It leaves the factory on what they call 'race settings' although I'm sure 'fast road' would be more appropriate as they are Walter's prefered settings for the 'Ring. The other settings supplied to the OPCs by Porsche are 'Winter' and 'Road'. I'm very happy with the car as it is and am going to wait until the likes of Parr etc. etc. have played with a car before experimenting. Some OPCs seem clued up on the settings, others not - suprise suprise. Incidentally the rear wing is also adjustable and leaves the factory on the middle setting - again as prefered by Mr.R. Enjoy!

spec is meteor grey/comfort interior/satnav/red belts/regular brakes/bit of carbon/uprated hi fi.There may be a couple of things I've forgotten. To be honest I thought long and hard about the clubsport pack but don't love the seats in the CGT and with a heavily pregnant wife to ferry about, well there's no way...Ceramics was the only other thing I really considered but with a child on the way I might not own this car for that long (won't keep it if it's not getting use) and while I really like ceramics they don't hold their value at resale.I haven't looked forward to a 911 this much in a long while, for me it's important this car is as good as the reviews say.If I'm brutally honest the 997 turbo was a disappointment, and the regular 997 didn't do much for me either.Last really good 'new' Porsche I drove was the Cayman s I think (ex the CGT of course).Having said that 996GT2's and GT3's look absolutely superb value right now...

Does anyone have an idea of what gets adjusted to these so-called "race settings"?
Camber, toe, ride height, ARBs?
All of the above?

Really flemke surely you know all you have to do is pop in to your OPC and they'll have ALL that info at their fingertips - or you could ask a guy selling The Big Issue who will undoubtedly possess similar levels of expertise!
PS. I know you'll be amused to hear that my neighbour couldn't get his F430 started this cold and frosty morning!

What is all this Ferrari hatred all about - They make fantastic cars - don't they.

OK - They are out of my reach - maybe they can be criticised for that - but I would not say a F430 is a rubbish car.

If I could afford a Ferrari and I mean really afford one - I would have one in an instant.

I bought my GT3 knowing that it is up there with some of the great cars that you can buy today - and possibly is better pound of pound than anything Maranello can offer but I know what I would rather have if I did not have to pay for one.

Some of the criticism on all things Ferrari stems from learned people who race either Pork or in Flemkes' case has an incredible stable of motors - so what is it exactly that really gets up your noses about Ferrari???

I am speaking from a point of view that I hold the Prancing horse in high regard but have never owned one so I do not know what the reality of owning one is like.

Wouldlove to know where all this emotion comes from

Since I was posting to flemke I thought I'd pop in a snippet to make him chuckle which it obviously did - so no harm done.
Can't and wouldn't presume to speak for flemke, but I certainly don't 'hate' Ferraris. In fact life's to short to hate anything much let alone a mere car. I desperately want to own a Ferrari but doubt I will. Why? Well to my eyes the 550/575 is a stunning car and at todays prices I'm sorely tempted. I've seriously looked at a few but when ever I get close, even the 'immaculate ones' smell of damp or have a bit of rust here or there or some trim pealing off. Same when I've looked at buying a 355 to tuck away as a future classic. I know all about the driving experience etc. but given the original price of these cars I expect engineering and production levels of the highest order. Several friends own F430s and frankly even at a year old they look tatty. I don't love or hate any marque and don't care about badges, I just like good cars and Porsche seem to make a few well whereas IMO Ferrari make a few good ones too - just badly. A friends enthusiastically but well driven F430 needed a front respray, new brakes and clutch after 4000 miles! I had an order in for an F430 and found myself cancelling it. I was gutted but sometimes reality doesn't live up to the myth and dreams are best left as dreams.

Oh, and my neighbour's F430? We've got that started now. He then took one look at the state of my three week old GT3 and our local crud covered lanes at the moment and popped it back in the barn!

From my five years of working with them (and Maseratis) your expectations stand to be dashed pretty smartly then !!

I'll happily agree the products from Maranello have more "mystique" about them (or certainly used to), but as your neighbour found out this morning' if mystique is the Italian definition for your overpriced Fiat not starting, you can keep it !!

So you think your GT3 a bit on the dirty side then eh Pugsey ?
Best not show the results of a high speed thrash through North Wales this afternoon to your neighbour then............ hehehehe

I have an aversion to using new brakes discs and pads really hard until such time as they are well bedded in.
Whilst the brakes are an improvement (not difficult !) I'm still taking it as easy as possible (very difficult !!) to ensure the pads and discs do bed in properly. The original equipment Porsche discs have a ground finish applied to them specifically to speed up this bedding in process, unfortunately the Alcons don't.
This and the larger diameter (and the improved cooling) of the new discs it's making it difficult to bed them in gently.

All the signs are that the rear ceramics are passed their best too. So it looks like they'll be up for replacement sooner rather than later...............

Glad to see that your doing what it was made for, being driven. Despite the niggles you've had what other car that boasts 462bp out the factory could you go blasting round in on a day like today? Then get in tomorrow and do it all again. All you Ferrari drivers put your hands down cos we dont beleive you!

Evo billed the 996GT2 as "The return of the scary 911" when they first tested it.
I have to admit that compared with the GT3 it's "a bit of a handful" ( and thats's being diplomatic !!)
It requires a huge amount respect in this weather, especially in the first four gears. Notwithstanding that there was frost and ice up on the Evo triangle at 3 0'clock this afternoon yikes Trust me, that REALLY focused the mind driving hehe
