Starting problem
Discussion
Stopped off to fill up my '99 996 C2 with fuel a couple of minutes after leaving home on Christmas Eve and the car wouldn't restart - turned over fine but wouldn't catch. Tried again a few times and eventually caught. Has started, run and idled fine ever since.
Anyone had similar or got any ideas as to what might have caused this?
Many thanks,
Chris
Edited to add car - always useful!

If you have a 996 I've had the same problem - I've spoken to the local OPC and a couple of decent indie's and it was nothing major to worry about - its all to do with having a warm/hot engine on start up and the ECU thinking its doing a cold start and unburnt fuel still in the system. Either live with it or spend some serious money on finding out which sensors are faulty and replacing them. Its happened to me 2 or 3 times over the last 6 months and apart from feeling a prat when it happens I can live with it until my next service is due. Obviously for your own piece of mind I would still have it checked out at the dealers just in case it is something more serious!!!!

Thanks Lex, I guessed it might have something to do with a bit of cold start/warm start confusion. Car is warrantied but no doubt the sensor will have suffered 'wear and tear' if I present the car to the OPC for sorting...
