How low can they go?
Discussion
Currently have a 2000 Boxster S that I bought just over 3 years ago for £31k. It had 15k on the clock then and 28k now, kept forever in the garage under a techequipment cover it has received all its services via a OPC with no serious problems (not even the 3 letter one that we do not speak of!)
I'm guessing its worth maybe GBP18k private? and was wondering at what price do PH'ers think the Box S will settle down to as I am considering selling it. Will not buy a replacement car for a couple of years and will want the max money for my next car, that said if it is only going to lose 3 or so grand in 2 years i would prefer to keep it but if the fig is more like 8k down then perhps i will part sooner rather than later?

Sound early Boxsters will end up sticking at about 12k for a while I reckon. About the money that people will pay for a fun car with the Porsche name on it. 968s and stuff sat there for quite a while. Ropey ones will obviously be less but if you think about it, a good 944 could cost you 8k, and there's a world of diference between one of them and a boxster in Jo Public's eyes.(although I appreciate classicish status helps good 944 prices)

£18k for 2000 Boxter S??
Autotrader shows I can buy one 7 miles from my house for only £14k, and there seem to be any number available around £15k.

Depends a bit on where you are in the country though. I'm up north of the border, I thought 14K mentioned in your post was pretty cheap so I ran a search within 100 miles from me. The cheapest S I can find is 20K and that's a year 2000 model with a shade under 30K miles under its belt.
I was wondering the same thing about 996 prices. I reckon I've lost the best part of a grand a month on my 2002 model since I bought it last May - and I got the indie dealer down by 2K from his sticker price when I bought it.
Still love the car though!
