48K Service on 2002 C2
Discussion
Ha that's mad, I just posted something along the same lines, yeh I was quoted £850 from the Stratstone OPC in Wilmslow. Think I will supply the oil myself, will cost about a ton by itself at the OPC me thinks.
It should say what the Service Includes in your manual. BTW how old is your car??, I'm interested as I'm due this service on time alone and not miles as it's only done 35k but is 4 years old now.

Twilight zone stuff.....!
Mine registered in March 2002. It's litterally just done 40K miles, but the last service was April 2006 (at Wilmslow!).
Wondering whether I should buy the Spark Plugs, Poly Rib belt and Oil myself before hand and leave it with the car when it has it's service.
Are we allowed to do this? Will it affect the warranty? My thoughts were that it wouldn't as long as I buy the parts from an OPC and get oil/plugs that are approved.

Well there's no point buying the belt and plus from the OPC as they won't be any cheaper, and they will supply at service for the same price. However I know that I can get the Mobil One oil a lot cheaper than what the OPC will supply it at. I'll just leave it in the car when I put it in for service, i know a few guys on here have done this in the past will no issues.
So I take it that you're going for the 48k Service early?, by rights it should have been done a while back in terms of time as the car is almost 5 years old. I take it you've extended the warranty on the car then?.

Yep mine needs it's 4 year/48k service. Well it's 4 years having only covered 26k.
Wilmslow quoted me around £860 or thereabouts.
It's booked into Sports and Classic instead. They'll do a better job, know the car and it will cost me less.
The car is under OPC warranty so it needs to have proper Porsche parts etc etc. However its 4 now so I don't feel the undying urge to pay more for a Porsche stamp.
The bonus is that I can get the Dension fitted as well
edit: To add mine is a C4S not a C2.

Yep, she'll be 5 (April) when she has her 48K service. Her 4th year service was at 33K miles (minor) in April of 2006, so she's had a service every year on her birthday and has done slightly below avg miles I think. I bought it privately with 9 months ext warranty left. I'll be re-signing for another 12 months in May to keep it going. She's already been in twice for replacement seals (heaven forbid - there's my first New Year's Resolution casualty....
) at each end of the crankshaft. Cost of around 900 GBP but it was under warranty so no tears were shed. I'll get the oil before the service then I think. What's the exact Mobil 1 oil they'll use? Will it be 0W-40 or will it be 10W-40....?
I recently had a major service along with an MOT on my 2003 996 by Sutton Coldfield OPC. In my opinion they are great - I bought the car from them and they've looked after it and me superbly ever since.
If you are going to use them I suggest you firstly join the Porsche Club GB - I got 10% off the total bill including parts, labour and MOT! and it totalled at around £510

Too strange.
Mine goes in to Sutton Coldfield on Monday for her 48k service!
£531 service.
£167 sparkplugs.
£25 belt and filter.
£113 brake fluid.
They knocked £130 off for supplying my own oil (went for Silkolene Pro). They use Mobil1 5w-40.
They are also doing my 111 point check for free and I'll be taking a warranty out through them.
Asked them to do a gearbox oil change (only had the car recently and I'm sad like that) but the service chap informed me that it wasn't required, it really is up to the job of doing 96000 miles. Bloody hell, an OPC turning down cash!!!
