I apologise if this has been asked before but I can't find anything using the search so here goes.

How good is the radio reception in your 996? Mine is crap.

I have a 2002 996 Turbo with the standard Bose system. Driving around the Woking/Guildford area and listening to Capital is terrible. In fact, it's only the BBC stations that give good reception but I draw the line at Radio 1.

I've asked AFN to fix it but all they say is "they all do that Sir".

It's like being back in my Cerbera!

Has anyone else experience this and, if so, did you manage to fix it?

The radio reception on my '98MY C2 is absolutely fine. Sound system is standard as far as I know. The car has a stubby ariel above the rear window, which I assume is for the radio. The only reason I mention this is that it's missing on some 911s I've seen.

No problem in my 02 996 with Bose minidisc headunit.

My 96 S'class merc is another matter. The reception on Medium wave is appalling and the radio shop say there is nothing they can do. Something to do with interference with the cars electronics for which Meredes couldn't offer an explanation.

I thought the stub aerial at the back was for the sat nav which has been replaced by a hidden aerial on later cars.

Mine definitely has an aerial in the front screen which I guess is for the radio.

Funny man. How's the radio in the Cerbie? Not that you can hear it with your pipes
