Hi

I remember a couple of guys who did a full Zymol treatment at your house for a car and special occasions. Cost a fair bit and was better part of a day. Anyone help me with a good refferal for such.

Appreciated.

would second simon belli. he "vintaged" mine end of last summer. I remain confident that under the 2.5 inches of winter cack covering it at the mo lies a very shiny automobile

What sort of person are you ?

Do you like to polish your car ?

If so have a view of www.detailingworld.co.uk/index.php

If you have somebody Zymol your car, make sure they explain how to maintain it.

Ie 2 bucket method, Schmitt(most ppl are ,moving to this), blitz spray between waxes

Or you could try Paul Dalton www.miracledetail.co.uk or indeed John Drake as above.

Thank you for the numerous leads.

Andyyuk, I am the lazy type of guy, but one who needs/wants to learn too, as I want to care for the vehicle.

I am planning on getting a Paintshield and would want to lock in some shine before and possibly again after.

Its a new Bentley Continental GT after foregoing my 997TT slot (in case you wondered why I bothered the Porsche board).

Apart from the obvious in the two bucket method could you elaborate on the Scmitt and blitz spray details, it would be appreciated, you sound like you're on top of this, I am sure others may get something from this as well, appreciated.

P.S. I am in the St Albans , Herts area

two bucket method in basic terms is when you use one bucket full of foam/car shampoo/wash for dunking your mitt in before putting it on the car to clean it and the second bucket is just fresh water that you rinse the mitt in. The benefit is all the crap you took of the car is then in the second bucket and not the one your going to use to put the shampoo on the car, which causes a lot of the swirl marks/marring often found on car paintwork, especially noticable on darker cars.

The spray system i think he means is a quick detailer (qd) which is actually like a top up for the wax/sealant you have on the car already. If used with a drying towel instead of a chamois for drying it keeps it lubed and prevents scratches. Also puts a nice "just waxed shine" on the car. There are dozens of qd's available, from meguiars, swissvax, zymol, chemical guys etc etc. Worth a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk if your interested, there all very friendly and help out newbies!!

Whilst on the topic, any recommendations for a detailer who does the work on their premises - anywhere between North London and the M25 ?

I park on the street so not really ideal to have a mobile detailer. Unless of course they can predict the weather, avoid traffic on one side of the car, prams on the other side and very bad parkers at the front and rear of the car.

I hate threads like this as it just makes me want mine done more when I look at the gallerys on these websites.

Glyn - the orange wheels and script should go on in the next couple of weeks (warmish weather permitting!)then I'll be in touch to do the RS and GT3.....might cheer the pair of them up before the track season starts in earnest again as they are looking bored stupid in the garagecry
