The 911 has gone for RMS repair (again). I've got a Cayman for the week. Its a great car, only the 2.7 so not as quick as the 911 but it goes round the twisty bits really really well. I wouldn't have considered one previously but would seriously think about an 'S' version now.

The Mrs thinks its much nicer than the 911.

makes much more sence than a 911 when you consider price v performance then again on that basis the boxster makes even more sence.

i'd agree that it looks better as well, then again i would i've got one.

Fabulous car but the Boxster is even better IMO as it's cheaper and gives you the soft top option. Boxster S is the best Porsche I've owned so far.

If one's comparing price v performance then a Mitsi Evo makes sense. People want different things (like a tintop) and it's a lot more than that to a lot more people.

Put you finger tips in the door shuts on a bumpy road and feel that baby bend. Cayman's roof add >100% torsional strength, and is the main reason why its a better steer.

Once was enough ,just for scientific purposes you understand (and this had nothing to do with my attractive female driver). There's a surprising amount of movement on poor surfaces.

Doesn't change my opinion but does make me hope I don't meet you on said bumpy road - have you been doing this long?

There is movement, agreed : but it is nowhere near as wobbly as just about any other convertible car on the market.

yes You show me a 911 that can carry the same entry speed to a corner as a Boxster and I'll show you a 911 that's heading for the scenery in reverse.

I agree there's movement but, given that it's generally agreed to be one of the best handling cars(soft top or otherwise)around then who cares. Still the best Porsche I've owned.

And do I see a 997 GT3 amongst the fleet?

Yes. Nothing like the complete package that the Boxster is (bear in mind I love convertibles) and you have to be going so quickly on road to attain those 'magic' moments that seem to come along all the time in the Boxster that it's beyond a joke. Looking forward to the 'Ring though!

Because of how Porsche have chosen to position it, and basically because they can.

Because people will pay it; according to figures in 911&PW, Caymans(?) are outselling Boxsters.
