That time of year again. Would not post but I am not over 30, clean licence and 5 years no claims.......

still £1,350 - which is about the same as last year - from A-plan by the way.

Confused.com has come back with 1,100........anyone know of other specialists?

Cheers,

Give direct line a punt....no seriously....

I'm 33 clean license no points (at the moment....miracle!) and I'm just under £500 with DL for my 02 C2 996. Not sure how much of that is address related though, I think I'm in one of the lowest risk postcodes in the UK.

Norwich Union Direct....talking to a Porsche repair shop recently, and was recommended by them as being one of the best Companies to deal with....may not be the cheapest but, you get what you pay for....

What i usually do is get a quote of Confused.com You say you have a quote for £1100? Now, starting ringing all the major companies using that quote.

Thats the route i always do, i always find that the smaller companies or brokers come out best. What i never undertood was say Norwich Union give you a quote of £1000. Ring a broker and there best price comes through at £600 and its with Norwich Union?

My insurance is £750.00 fully comp with £500.00 xs thru Swift cover. Need to have tracker system as well as decent alarm/immobiliser.

Have a '99 996 Carrera 2 and I have 6 points (speeding!!!), 34 years old, full NCB and its parked on the street.

The address thing is whats killing you - I have my car registered at my home in Newcastle but live and work in Windsor / West London most of the time. I tried with my London address and the price nearly doubled!!!!!

Good hunting!!!!!

Guys speak with Chris@MichealWardAssociates.com - cheapest brokerage by far and haven't to date not been able to beat a quote (even like for like underwriters) . Would put money on them being the cheapest

As for Elephant and other 'budget' insurers FORGET them. Don't understand spending a lot of money on a car , to not get premium insurance.

Agree 100%. You spend a fortune on the right tyres, the best oil and petrol etc so why skimp on the insurance.

I've had the CHUBB Masterpiece policy (through Cheam Brokers) and consider it great. Not the cheapest but total peace of mind.

Elephant, Confused, etc may be cheap but read the small print - many of them specify their own garages etc for repairs (non OPC), have no courtesy cars, no GAP insurance, etc etc Forget it.

yes CHUBB are the business. I recently had a total loss claim with Chubb Masterpiece just before christmas. Within 10 days (including all the holidays) I had the full agreed value of the vehicle transferred directly into my bank account. Like for like car offered for the duration of the claim. It was a pleasure to claim. I've also experienced claiming total loss with Elephant. Now that was a different experience.

I am actually with Elephant & also found them very competitive. Was concerned about the non-OPC thing and double checked with them. I was assured that I could use any garage I wished, however would have to supply them with 2 quotes & would not get a courtesy car. The courtesy car is no issue to me as I have a few others to choose from.

At the end of the day you pays your money & takes your choice.

Ouch - stolen or crashed?

Had to make two claims with CHUBB (both not my fault). Both occassions I was given an AMV8 as a courtesy car and the free legal cover recovered fully my excess. Best there is.

...this is exactly why i'm with Chubb, Justin at Cheam brokers the insurance for me. The insurance company not letting you chose a Porsche approved garage for repairs is very worrying and would hammer the potential resale value of the car.

for the third year running, having trawled confused.com, elephant and 6 indies from the PCGB Post mag, I have renewed with Norwich Union. Cheapest by a fair margin, with a fairly transparent pricing structure, and my few dealings with the call centre re queries etc have been very straightforward
