I was sufing the web and a website came along , claiming that this on guy had turned his 924s into a turbo version. Does anyone have any experience in doing this? if so how diffcult is the job?
If it was possble to place a 944 turbo engine in the 924s, i think we would be seeing top speeds of excess of 150mph as the 924 has better aerodynamic characteristics.

As far as I'm aware the 924S is almost identical under the bonnet as an early 944. Therefore their should easily be enough space to fit the turbo engine and associated gubbins.

The reason that it isnt popular is probably the same reason that converting the n/a 944 into a turbo isnt popular, cost when compared to just getting a decent example of an old 944 turbo.

It would make an interesting Q car though.

Cheaper to buy a tatty but mechanically sound 1985 944 turbo and replace the wings and quarters with 924 ones than it is to do the opposite.

Nice idea, too expensive.

I was under the impression that the 924s is around 300kg lighter than the 944's and with 300 bhp under its bonnet (obiviously the turbo engine being chipped) the 924s could be made into a super car. ive always liked the idea of a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Out of curiousity, what would be the changes needed to switch the engines out? Suspension, exhaust, brakes? And also the costs associated...

I've owned a 924S in the past, and the reason I sold it was becuase of the need for more power
