Thinking about a 997 C2S as a daily commute - I regularly do 250 miles in a day - I current drive an M5 and thought an M6 might do the trick, but since I can get all my stuff in a 997 (tested in the showroom this afternoon) will I get a numb bum? Can it be relaxing to drive at 80ish mpg for 2 hours?

Should I be looking for standard or sports seats?

Thanks

David

Put me down for one as well !!

But seriously, car will cruise comfortably all day at 80.
Seats ? get a 24 hour test drive and try both types before buying, as some on here have had comfort issues with the sports seats.

Good Luck

I use mine for everyday use and also for long distance cruising. This christmas I drove to the French alps and back in one go (12-14 hours of driving) without any problems. Only limiting factor was the fuel range. Previously had an M3 (E46) and I'd say its as comfortable if not more so.

Spec with cruise control, BOSE sound upgrade, SatNav and you've genuinely got one of the best GT cars around.

On the Eurohoon trips I drive my 996 for 6/8 hours a day for a week. No problem whatsoever (standard seats).

I've driven the GT3 for 5/6 hours at a time with just a fuel stop & even the race seats in that were fine.

Had to do a trip from London to Edinburgh and back in one day this week in my C2S and must say that albeit it isn't a 7-series the seats are extremely comfortable and supportive and the traffic in front does tend to 'move ot the way'

Mine has sport seats and sports suspension and on a 13 hour drive to Bolzano, in Northern Italy, last year it was more comfortable than any car I have owned including my current 540i.

At at least you'll have a 300 mile fuel range unlike the M5!

Sounds good - I do get nearly 400 miles from a tank in my e39 - I hope to get 25 out of a 911 or more like 22 out of an m6. Appreciate the feedback

Filled up with BP Ultimate this morning at 7am done 200 miles - computer say I have 236 miles to go to the next fuel stop.

I have averaged 30.6 mpg - although I muat admit I drove like a girl. Plus all dual carriageway / motorway. I think I'll get 400 miles out of this tank and then drive it a bit faster

Yeah - trouble is on the motorway it is always goading me to boot it - the first tank of petrol barely got 200 miles out of it. It just works, and thats a lovely feeling after some of the cars I have / still own.

I think that the Aston you can chuck into a corner faster but it would come out the other side slower than the Porsche.

It is also nicely discreet, room for a laptop bag in the back and an overnight bag in the nose and will press on if required - perfect business wheels.

Not just happy - content enough to order another one next week.

you just described the best way of cornering a 911 - slow in, fast out

CONGRATULATIONS!

Indeed, the C2S is the perfect GT car. Took it to Italy over New Year with 800km one way, mostly on motorways and stopping to get fuel. I've got the sports seats and found the car very comfy. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

400 miles on my first tank for business - don't think I'll be able to repeat that though.

I've messed about with the configurator quite a bit an will probably order my next one next week.

I'll start a seperate thread about churning new cars though.
