Change one tyre or two??

Posted earlier today about a potential puncture vs. vandalism. Came home today and tyre flat again so definitely a slowish puncture. I only just changed the rear tyres 2.5k miles ago and only done commuting / motorway driving since.
So, do I change only one tyre (left rear) or do I have to change both rears? Read/heard that you should always change both no matter what for these cars so that you have totally even wear. Seems a bit excessive (and expensive) so any opinions?
