Noticed that Parklands have had the car for sale for a while so thought about taking a look and going in with an offer.
However having read the thread on Titanic and now knowing the cars recent history I wondered what affect repairs have on the cars value and inparticular what they are now likley to be bid.
I'm sure their hoping for a buyer who doesn't know the history but I guess most would have an inspection so it would be discovered.
Given that I will track the car and I'm likley to spend some time in the kitty litter a keenly priced car with a little history may be ok.

On the way to getting new tyres someone at the dealer crashed it up a curb doing a fair bit of front end damage. Apparently he was coming up a filter lane and had to swerve to avoid someone jumping a light. That doesn't really add up when you look at the damage, but whatever...

this car has been for sale since may last year. car has also been in evo mag. i did not know it had been damaged though, spoke to parklands last year about the car they told me it was totally as new no damage. so now i know why it is still for sale. how do buyers find out about the damage? apart from here of course!scratchchin

The impression I got on Titanic is that the car was as good as sold when it was crashed very recently (hence the buyer quite reasonably rescinded their offer). Damage photos seemed to show a lot of intrusion into the boot at the front to an extent that I cannot imagine being possible without suspension damage to match. Certainly looked repairable, but the kind of job that would potentially harm its value to a prospective buyer who was aware of it.

well depending on how bad the damage is I would not go near it.

re-sale will be hard, most RS's gt known as there aren't many around, especially blue ones!

I was the buyer. 48 hours from collecting the car when the dealer principal called with bad news.

Real shame as I had spoken to the previous owners, viewed the car and was very pleased with the deal agreed.

From what I saw the damage was 99% cosmetic. I'm sure the car will be repaired to a high standard. Expect it will be back in the showroom in a week or two. I'm sure the eventual buyer will be delighted with it.

There was very minimal intrusion into the boot. The front bumper took the impact as it's designed to do. There was no suspension damage. Mounting points were checked on a very accurate jig. I would say this episode should have very little bearing on the value of the car (certainly less than 5%) provided it's repaired correctly. For £150 or so the likes of Parr or JZM will tell you if it's been done properly.

Great timing to make a cheeky bid on this car. I expect they'll want to see the back of it sooner rather than later.

** No. Wasn't sure how long the repair would take and found another RS at a similar price.

Did JZM inspect the car for you prior to the accident ?, have you seen any others for sale that looked good. I notice you have a 997 for March build are you keeping both ?

** I was originally quoted a March build slot when I paid the deposit. Now the dealer says he's not sure and in fact it may be as late as August. Not impressed but decided the best things in life are worth waiting for. The plan is to buy a 996RS as a stopgap.

** I didn't do an inspection in the end as I managed to track down and speak to the previous owners - who all said the car had a very quiet accident free life. When I saw it in the metal it looked absolutely perfect. 5K miles but could have passed for 500.

There are a few RS's for sale right now. IF the Parklands car is properly repaired...and IF they price it sensibly, it's definately worth considering.
