964 - Engine out upgrades.....
Discussion
My 964 is now sitting in JZ waiting for its engine rebuild.
Given that the engine will be out I'm considering slipping in some subtle "not a word to the Mrs" modifications.
1. Lightweight RS flywheel
2. Dyo'ing and chipping
What would be my other options? Should I swap the suspension? I've had new dampers and springs all round in the last two years - would something more track based be difficult to live with for the two times a year I track the old girl?

C2 or C4? If it's a C2, you could consider fitting an LSD if you don't already have one, although if you only track it a couple of times a year it may not be worth it. Also, fit a new clutch as well as the flywheel. Heads can be flowed and and valve gear uprated. Other than that you're really looking at internal mods (cams etc.) and inlet (MAF - can be done engine in). I think a dyno/chip/live re-map should be done after the rebuilt engine has been run-in, rather than straight away, as you don't really want to red-line new bearings / rings.
Other routine things to check/replace whilst the engine is out are some of the oil lines, the tinware, gearbox seals.
Cheers

If you're rebuilding the engine the it's worth considering uprating the valve springs etc to allow a higher rev limit - for safety as much as anything. Check on the condition of the cams as these can be changed to give a bit more power with a rechip. The MAF can be done with the engine in and I've been very happy with mine.
For town use the RS flywheel is a PITA IMO
Uprating the suspension using the ubiquitous Bilstein HDs and appropiate springs or the H+R coilovers improves the car on the road as well as track but RS or stiffer like H+R supercups are too much again IMO.
