Anyone have a gt3 or rs on the rolling road yet....??? any figures power wise.. interested to see how much bhp they have over the 996 gt3s...
We did a dyno day on Saturday - my bog std RS made 434.7 whilst another with a light sprinkling of extra code made 445! Big grin day out

what do you reckon to this story that porsche dyno the Gt3 engines and put the ones veering to the high side of power output in the RS's?

That was the Myth with the 996 versions.
the Standard RS's seemed to put out at least 10+ BHP more on average than the standard MKII's for all the ones i had seen
on the dyno...although whether it's because they are selected due to higher figures has never been
confirmed as far as i know..i have heard that the RS may have had a different head fitted, but Dan H seems
to know more about that one...
Not sure about the 997 versions, as the GT3 that was with us on Saturday did not have to to go on the Dyno
for a test...but we'll find out soon enough for sure.
All cars are relatively new, so are far from being run in to their optimum yet, so this may have
an effect on figures too.
One thing is for sure, Porsche always seem to be very conservative about their power figures.

Don't forget that the 996 MkII and RS engines are not actually identical. Although quoted as the same hp, the RS has the lighter flywheel to turn and a crank case breather valve from what I have read. This should explain a bit of extra hp on the Dyno, though I will leave it to the engineers if anyone wants to know why...
