Drawing on the wealth of knowlage on here again,

1: Whats the crack with adjusting the wing on a mk1 gt3? i've been advised that it should be left in the flat, flush position else "terrible things will happen"

2: Do the clutches become stiffer with age, I expect it to be weighty but it just seems a little excessive.

Cheers, gorisan

The wing has 3 positions (plus "flat". I'm running one up from flat because I've got 235 front & 265 rear tyres. Does help.

Clutch stiffening up with age means replacement required in the not too distant future I'm afraid.

I thought as much with the clutch, it's the same on alot of cars, I thought I'd check befor I had it replaced an found it was the same after. Any ideas on a ball park figure for a clutch job inc plate and cover?

OPC circa £2,200 - They drop the engine
Independant circa £1,500 - RSR Engineering in Grayshot, Surry did mine. He dropped the gearbox.

Depending how stiff it has become, the clutch should be much lighter once changed.

The rear wing can be adjusted for posing purposes. Take it on a track and attack a fast corner and expect major understeer. Great if life is boring you!

Clutch. Springs get stiffer as they age. Does not mean you need new clutch though. OPC's will tell you that you need a new clutch, of course. Decent independant like PARR or JZ Machtec will explain whats happening. Good for building up those feeble calf muscles.

I was curious about the under steer problem if i added more wing to it, It worked out like that in my head but wasn't sure if it would in practice! best left alon then i think, smash

The clutch seems quite heavy but I think alot of it is down to driving a mk1 golf gti as a run around and being used to that, I'll get it checked out and see from there, With more road than track use, how long are the clutches expected to last if not abused?rotate

Yeah, all big winged GT3s understeer massively and plough straight on... rolleyes

Porsche didn't know what they were doing by providing adjustable rear spoilers on the GT3 rolleyes

I mean, the twistiest circuit and one of the toughest 24hr races in the world has never been won by a GT3 with a big spoiler rolleyes
Sorry, I forgot about this one that won the 'Ring24hrs in 2006...

As you can see below, this big winged GT3 has difficulty turning in

And as you can see below, the '06 Ring24hrs winner has a standard rear spoiler which has not been adjusted to upset the balance

COME ON GARY! GET WITH IT! beer

LOL Tim! Sadly the weight loss programme isn't available as an off-the-shelf package from Manthey silly

Depends on your set up. I always run mine flat. If you have a pointy set up, you may want more wing but you loose a little speed. It would be better yo have enough balance in the chasis to alow you to run a flat wing. Trimming a GT3 in the wing should really be a last resort
