UN-FxxKING-BELIEVABLE - OPC at their best
Discussion
Sent my 996TT back to my local OPC as one of my headlamps was full of condensation that would not clear.
This is the style of headlamp that is on the car:
And this is what they replaced the right hand side headlamp with!!!!!!!
Creating this rather erm.. original look!
Unfortunately I didn't spot it until the chap who delivered the car was half way down the road so I had to wait another day to get it sorted. How on earth could anyone have fitted this and not noticed the difference. It beggars belief.

All work is cross checked by a second porsche trained tech!
Well that is what they told me after they left the rear strengthen brace undone!
"Hey John, you've tightened up this brace, best to leave those hanging" Well that is what they told me after they left the rear strengthen brace undone!
and
"Pete, you idiot, always use striped glass on the RHS, do it again"

Brilliant, if they do that with a headlight I wonder what they are like with.....oil, plugs, brakes etc
honestly mate, dont even go there.
id get banned if I told you the mess ive had .. .. .. .. .. ..
indy only for me, forever, and not just with the porsche too, landrover main dealers are no better!
This is why I do lots of work myself or get my very thorough local garage (run by a friend) to do it all. Never had a problem.
OPC kent charged me £600 for a new alternator due to the thread being stripped. 1 year later I came to change the belts and guess what - threads still stripped as they 'forgot' to fit the new one. Absolute bunch of c u next tuesdays.

Ow! Now that sucks. It seems over here, that being a mechanic is a respectable way to make a living and most mechanics seem to take some pride in their work. They've also got to go through a proper apprenticeship system before they're allowed to put on the blue overalls and call themselves qualified. Just what is it about the UK system (if there is one) that seems to breed the sort of slovenly and gormless morons that we've all had working on our cars at one time or another? What do you need to be a mechanic in the UK? A few crisp wrappers or Rice Krispie-box tokens? Any half decent mechanic over here is par for the course. In the UK, if there's someone somewhere that knows his way around a box of spanners, he's viewed like some sort of magician.
Talking to a lad the other day who used to work in a Jaguar dealer.....the reason he was now washing cars (mine included) was that he was expected to pay for his own tools -coupla grand budget he reckoned -he could just not afford it.....
That headlamp incident is laughable though!!!
But hey, look on the bright side. I went to collect a plane a few years ago from a 50 hour service to ferry it back and couldn't get it started. Engineer took the cowlings off to check it....the spark plugs hadn't been put back in and a second engineer had signed it off!!!
I also had an engineer ring me once to check I'd got back OK, because he couldn't remember tightening up a replacement fuel pressure switch!!!
(He had, BTW.....)
