Chaps,

A fairly simple one, I'm sure.....

I'm doing the usual annual due-diligence exercise of having a quick look around for car insurance. Perhaps a noddy question, but my 996 C2 was bought by its original owner with Classic Sport2 split rim alloys, along with GT3 aerokit, I believe, from factory as "ticked options"

Just reading some of the jargon on the various insurance sites, and having had a convo with an "insurance operative" last year, she was also unsure whether factory fit options are deemed "modifications" or not (worryingly...)

Any thoughts?

TIA

If you use Elephant on-line they actually have a whole list of options you can check off for the quote..includes exhausts, engine mods etc in lots of detail..

All done n dusted...used the guys at A-Plan, per the sticky!....asked the question, and theyre added to the policy but she did say that they dont class them as mods, as they were tickable options.

Jobs a good'un....Oh, and saved a pretty packet (certainly worth a call and 5mins of my time)...and got a lower excess...recommend!

Thanks for the replies

I'm with elephant at the moment and the factory fitted options I specifically disclosed to them as they state that their policy is only to get back to manufacturers base spec.

Have found them reasonable with the mods too. I am int he process of chnaging to clear lights all round, GT2 style buckets and also have upgraded the stereo to the Becker Cascade sat nav unit. Additional premium a very reasonable £30 a year.

Best bet is ask as they all vary. The sensible ones only seem to want to know about performance enhancing modifications but it's also possible to get bogged down as some insurers take it to silly levels.
