Worries it... Could you be more specific? Worrying it sexually? Like dry-humping it's leg when there are people around? Worrying it psychologically? Is the GT3 looking at the Lotus and feeling a bit fat? Or is the Lotus going out on the piss and bringing home homeless people and getting the GT3 vicariously worried in a sort of 'a word with you, mate - people are talking' kind of way?

I haven't got the March issue yet - do spill the beans.

Edit - Personal experience tells me that though an Exige S is brilliant in the corners and has the turn-in and apex covered, a GT3 has the legs on it under braking and at the exit. Last time I looked, Lotus were struggling a bit in GT racing. Bt the tone of your post, they're making progress.

Exige S is a Lotus Factory production car at a dizzying 218 BHP & 179lb-ft of torque. Weltmeister Trophy Exige is Turbo & Intercooled at 280 BHP & 220lb-ft.....

The journalist was quoted as saying on the day he drove the car at Silverstone, "dispatched GT3's with ease" of course the GT3's could all have been on their in lap ?

Cheers

I've a Lotus. Nothing would please me more than to see the company do well on track. But, I can only bring personal experience to bear - so have to base my comments on the 'S'.

Would certainly shave my nuts for a drive in the Weltmeister car, though. I'm assuming also, that with the outputs you've quoted, that the car is significantly lighter than the porky S?

Edit - wait a moment. The Weltmeister Exige is a road car? Right. Up to speed, now. Weltmeister, I can't get on to your website. What gives?

what a time for the site to go down, just as you have a BIG feature in Evo, gutted.

id say its time to ditch the host across the pond and get a reliable one over here!

Your joking right? An Exige should easily outbrake a GT3. They outbrake most things short of Atoms, Radicals etc.

EVO even commented on it last year with the 'Road Racer' test where they confirmed a standard Exige murdered a 996 GT3RS under braking.

I'm sure the Trophy Exige is a fine car. Not sure I'd "shave my nuts for a drive" though.

However, sorry to be pedantic, but the article actually says "Porsches are simply an annoyance to be despatched as quickly as possible" Doesn't specify GT3's at that point (could have been 356's)If the performance differential was so great GT3's were "despatched with ease" that would more like GT3 obliterating than GT3 worrying.

I wish I were joking, though I am referring to an Exige S. IMO, the regular Exige is much better on its brakes. At 975 kilos, the Exige S is a bit on the fat side, and the now standard ABS is, IMO, a bit anxious to get involved in proceedings. A bit of an upgrade and some wire clippers would no doubt rectify most of the S's failings.

Who really cares if a pimped up Lotus passes a GT3 on track? GT3s get passed all the time by Caterfields/Radicals/Atoms etc.

If the thought of choosing a souped up Exige appeals over the complete driving experience of a GT3, then it really is best to go for the Lotus.

Turbo Lotus driven a motoring journo who is a bit handy behind the wheel and spends days on track every year beats Porsche driven by its owner who has (a) less experience (b) less ability (c) a need to drive home in his Porsche at the end of the day. Well, thats conclusive.....
