urgent need advice quick please

just bought a 996 year 2000....and my insurance is asking for a thatchem alarm fitted aswell as the standerd alarm,,,,does anyone know if the standed porche transponder / imobilizer key is thatcham recognized....dont want to spend if i dont need to plz help

The standard system on a UK supplied C16 996 is a Thatcham Catagory One alarm and immobilser.

A UK 996 would have been supplied with the correct Thatcham approved alarm and immobiliser. A dealer would be able to certify this.

ok so you need a thatcham 1 alarm/immobiliser...you fit 1 and now "erm sir your vehicle is now modified we will have to charge you a little extra" but youve fitted the alarm because they insist on it !!

Waste of time...im so glad i have a motor traders policy.
