Does anyone have any pointers on a good Midlands based Porsche independent, as I need to get a few bits done and a new set of pads and possibly disks. I don't fancy having my shirt lifted by my local OPC, I will leave them for servicing, so would appreciate some recomendations.

I have used PCT in Coventry several times. They are very good but expensive (still cheaper than OPC).

No direct experience of anyone nearer to you.

if you need new discs, why not go for a set of floating Alcons?

Horizon Motorsport in Cradley Heath - even the Staffs side of Birmingham, just between Brierley Hill and Halesowen - they run several 996s for customers in Carrera Cup and so on, 944s in the other one, and are busy rebuilding a couple of very old 911s. Seem to know their stuff inside and out.

The pads are an easy job to do yourself, if you can jack the car up you can change the pads! The discs are a little more tricky but still a simple job.

First of all thanks for the feedback guys, really useful. I live between Lichfield and Uttoxeter near Abbots Bromley. I did consider doing this myself and may take that route, subject to getting a proper jack. I may look at taking the opportunity of upgrading them too along normal lines.
