Since watching Topgear the other night of the new Porsche 997 Turbo i have decided to sell the TVR T350t and to buy a more of an every day car.

I looking for some advice on what to buy.
My friend has just bought a 996 Carrera 4S - lovely looking car.

Please can you sled some light on the 996 Turbo or 996 Turbo X50 and also if a DMS upgrade is neccessary

Cheers
Jon

I would say first off, 996 turbos are extremly good value for money, considering the figures. Extremely quick and capable even if they suffer (opinion) from the unpopular runny egg headlights and dull front end. X50 is the one to go for.....I know 2 owners and they seem bullit proof...Sound great with the sports exhaust too..

The standard car is fantastic, the X50 maybe more desirable. KayC has a non-X50 TT with a DMS re-map - it is truly awesome.
I was thumbing through some old EVO issues recently and came across their DMS TT test. It was on an X50 car - they loved it, but reckoned it had slightly more lag than a non-X50 car because of the larger turbos.
My advice - Buy the best TT you can (X50 or not) and then get the DMS upgrade - you will not be disappointed...

My tt has noticably less lag than the X50 I tried, although the X50 seemed a bit quicker at the top end. Getting back in my tt it felt instantly more responsive and "perky".

Check out the classifieds -- I've just reduced the price of my tt...
