Apart from trying to sell my 996 c4, I've been lurking around on the 996TT's about for the last 3/4 months...

Prices seem to be dropping very sharp in the last few months? Maybe due to the better availability of the new TT or the rave reviews on the GT3?

Classic example, bar the fact its a TIP, this 2003 with under £30k is under £50k !! last year this would of been late 50's...

I'm not attempting scare mongery or anything, just interesting to work out trends...

No if only a trader fancied mine with a nice cheap X50 in stock

As you've mentioned, Tips do seem to be fetching a little less... but lets be honest and no disrespect to any similarly owned cars, Lapis Blue with Grey Leather is not exactly the preferred choice confused

Its still a great way to get into a genuine supercar though.

I couldn't care if my car dropped to 25k (and i'm dead serious!)

Yip, I love my Turbo, but the sheer joy it gives me to drive the fecker outways the thought of me having it sitting in my garage, doing jack and losing another 5k.

Sorry, just my 2p worth.

Load & loads of tt's on the market too many turbo's for sale, serious buyers can be very choosy very good deals to be had, also much more 996tt's made than 993tt's so prices will not hold no where near as firm a lot more mass produced model.

You are right there are loads about, however 95% of the cars over 3 years old are rubbish or not as good as they should be..finding a tt in an advert is easy, finding one you would buy is a lot harder..

Its all a matter of personal choice.

agree on the comment about there being lots out there. The good ones sell in days (i have been looking for 6 months and driven 6 or so that passed the initial 'phonecall', the others didnt even warrant a journey)!

Classic excuses i came across for the TT's that were available for sale for weeks:-

1. "yeh, the service history is coming next week"
2. "yes it does need the big 45k service, a bonnet paint, and a windscreen but we can do that in our workshop" (from a non porsche dealer/specialist)
3. "red leather with a red dash and red carpet is a sought after interior sir".
4. The dealer bringing to my home for a test drive, only to tear off at full throttle over a speed hump after I had gone back into my house!! - (think i'll pass on that one!)

the list goes on. I fortunately just found a nice basalt car that I managed to get a shade over trade due to the seller needing to sell to fund the new purchase and wanting more than the dealer had offered.

Awesome car - i thought my E39 M5 was quick when i sold last year, but this is in a different league!! It really is very useable and doesnt get the stares that a ferrari does.

cheers

mines in for a new oil sensor and have a 997 - apart from the lower power, Im suprised at how poor the interior feels/ cluttered.

Good 996tt will hold their value, but would imagine that once you have a good 996tt you hang onto it as the cost to change to anything similar to so great but for little reward.

Do I car if mine is worth 55k or 50k or 40k - not really, im not selling. Its still one of the fastest and most repected cars on the road. The value you get with a used 996tt is amazing.

Oh yes. They're all utterly crap out there. You really need to go to reputable dealer to find one that's any good....

Excellent, the lower the prices go the less likely I am to ever sell my car. No point, may as well buy the new one and keep the old one. party

I take kayc's point about there being a lot of 3 year+ cars out there that need some normal work doing eg stonechips, new discs, tyres etc. I don't think that makes them crap though. Just need to adjust prices to reflect the O/S work. I'd be more worried about cars that have been shunted, over modified or thrashed from cold etc.

Do it, It's a different car. I'm not one for the Miltek performance, although the Miltek is quiet and the quality is second to none, there are better performing systems out there, but it does comes down to a personal preference. These cars when tuned are fantastic!

If you look back and compare 996tt prices with 993tt price of same age example 5yr old car you'll find the 996tt is not holding it's price quite as well I'm not knocking the 996tt it's a better tt in my imho just reflects the higher mass produced figure of Porsche cars in today's s/h market.
