I am looking at buying 1986model year Porsche 944 LUX (2.5 8valve engine).
It's Californian left-hand-drive model.
What are performace figure for this car? (0-60 and top speed)and what are "best bang for buck" performance upgrades to the engine?
Thanks!

I don't know the performance figures, but the US model 2.5Lux has 150BHP and not 163.

Can only speak for my 944 8v.
150 ish fly wheel horses. 0-60 8.5 (doesn't like 0- 60) 140+ top speed. Still pulling hard at 130! Anything over 60 it goes like a train.

I did this months ago for someone on PH- Here it is copied and pasted again. Please excuse the sh*te formatting.
Interesting to note that Porsche official figures (such as the ones quoted above from GT Porsche) are nearly always fairly conservative.

Hi

Umm be careful about figures on that car...if it was really a Californian car..it may well have "emission control" stuff on it (assuming its not been removed in intervening years)

If its still there....cut figures in HALF ...then deduct a little

All the best Brett

Also, most of the models on my site will have some specs to go along with those posted above:
www.carfolio.com/search/results/?terms=porsche+944

I know for a fact that the Californian car won't be listed there though. Your best bet for that is to see if Road and Track ever tested a US version, the Californian one will be more or less the same, possibly just a few horses down on power (possibly).
