Getting a company Golf at the start of April, so my plan is to sell my Elise and the wife’s Alfa, and use the funds to purchase a 996, which the wife will use in the week and me at the weekend. Do I have any limitations on baby seats in the back?

Cheers
Matt

If you need to cart a lot of stuff about, the C4 has very little boot space thanks to the front diff etc. C2 has much more boot space yes

You have to be careful with the new laws on child seats. My nine year old was much happier in the back without a booster but legally has to have one now as he is under the height regulations so it has made using the 993 a little more complex but on the whole dont be put off by the fact you have kids.

Is it safer in your car?

I don't use boosters as I feel they're safer tucked down nice and low in my car (996 cab) They're on the cusp of being tall enough anyway.

No I dont really think it adds anything at all, but it makes it would be difficult to argue that if you get a tug from plod. The other half does think it is safer so I wont win on that. ;-)

just did 350 miles today in the fun family car, being a C2 helped as the coats fitted in the boot, TV in the back is a must, note to self, remember the fork and spoon head phones.

I have just found a booster seat that fits perfectly in the back of a 996. It's the Britax Horizon Booster Seat. Part number BOHO47828 from Halfords - £16.99.
I also had a Britax toddler seat (with it's own belts etc) that fitted (just).

Yep, managed easily.

Had two under the age of five when I had my 996. Went away for four nights complete with buggy, travel cot, and lots of stuff we probably didn't need.

The biggest plus was the kids actually wanted to get it in, rather than the usual fight.

Generally speaking, I think any two door car with rear seats is inherently unsafe, let alone a 911. If the car lands on it's roof or something, nobody at the back is getting out.

Some sports cars also have rear seats, unlike the Mazda.

HTH.

YOU MAY NOT NEED A BOOSTER SEAT???????

I spoke to the porsche about this and they confirmed that The way to check is.....if the label on the back seatbelt itself has E 44.03 or .03 on it then the whole rear seat itself is complient therefore no buster seat is needed. if no label.....then it needs a child seat / booster.

I asked my local cop shop about this and they didn't want to know. they just said the new law dosn't apply to lap belts...however if you read it craefully, i'm sure it does. lucky for me my local police are inept like in HOT FUZZ, and dont know the law?

I'm no expert at rolling 996s, but I reckon you could get out the back of this.

I think you've got something there, when touring my friends son always preferred to cadge a lift in the back of the 930 than slumming it in the back of a mondeo

I used to have a 996 Targa and found it more than adequate to cart my partner and two smallish kids around in. The Targa has the advantage of the additional storage space behind the rear seats that can be accessed through the hatch.
